Thanks to battles fought by our ancestors, the Peak District has a huge amount of open access land, much owned by the National Trust. Sadly sleeping out and having fires is against the rules, so me and a pal went out to Padley Gorge to exercise our right to do just that. The area is well known and used by Sheffield climbers and if you are on the posh side of town you can get out to it in a car in half an hour. The cycle would nearly kill me now, so I took the train there and bus back.
A nice sheltered spot for sleeping

Nearest aristocractic pile this way! Maybe we’ll sleep out there next time…
